"GIVE THEM A CHANCE”, START UP OF A TAILORING SCHOOL/WORKSHOP FOR GIRLS IN DIFFICULTY.
Place of intervention. Seed location Seme is a town located in western Kenya in the Kombawa district in Reru sublocation 100 km from Kisumu which is currently the third city in economic and political importance in Kenya. The village is spread over a vast fertile territory but still has a predominantly subsistence agricultural economy. Most of the town's activity takes place around the market and shopping area. Where the idea came from In Kenya, primary school which lasts 8 years (from 6 to 14-15 years old) is compulsory and free for everyone, while secondary school is paid. Currently only 20% of adolescents in Seme attend secondary school or a technical and professional institute called "Polithecnic", and the percentage is further reduced for girls. The girls to whom our project is aimed: orphans, single mothers, fatherless girls are the ones most penalized by this situation; they cannot attend secondary schools or other professional institutes, do not possess the qualifications of a trade, do not have a job and cannot aspire to an independent life or to be able to help their family with an income.
Specific objective To prepare girls in difficulty, through professional tailoring courses and by giving them support that encourages the start-up of the related activity, for a different future that leads them to economic independence and fully integrates them into social life.
Purpose Project: for social and economic promotion and development for girls in difficulty in Kenya
